Babbits — white fusible antifrictional alloys on the basis of tin or lead.
Are applied to filling of inserts of bearings of sliding of various cars.
The main requirements imposed to antifrictional alloys are defined by operating conditions of an insert of the bearing.
Antifrictional alloys have to have high wear resistance and small coefficient of friction between shaft and the bearing;
sufficient plasticity for the best prirabatyvayemost to a shaft surface;
the hardness sufficient for an insert as shaft support, but not causing strong wear of the shaft;
to possess a microcapillarity, i.e. ability to hold lubricants.
The specified requirements are provided with non-uniform structure of antifrictional alloys,
consisting of a soft basis with the firm inclusions which are evenly distributed in it.
Tin and lead babbits.
GOST 1320-74 extends to tin and lead babbits
in chushka, the slidings applied to filling of bearings and others
Depending on a chemical composition are established
following brands of babbits: B88, B83, B83S (tin babbits);
B16, BN and BS6 (lead babbits).
Among babbits the best antifrictional properties
tin possess. They are applied to bearings the answer -
stvenny appointment, when from antifrictional material
are required the minimum coefficient of friction, high iznoso-
firmness and viscosity. In comparison with babbits on a basis a swine -
tsa wear of tin babbits is twice less.
All tin babbits contain antimony in the structure and
copper, and B88 babbit is in addition alloyed by cadmium and nickel.
The structure of tin babbits consists of a soft basis
(antimony solution in tin) and evenly distributed in it
firm particles of a chemical compound of SnSb. Thus,
antimony strengthens a soft basis of babbits and creates inclusions
high hardness. The copper additive in addition increases
hardness of tin babbits (due to formation of firm
Cu3Sn .vklyucheniye also interferes with a likvation on density. Not -
considerable additives of cadmium and nickel do not form new with -
stavlyayushchy in structure of B88 babbit, but reduce the sizes
crystallites of a chemical compound.
B88 babbit is applied to the bearings working
at big speeds and high dynamic loadings. For
the bearings working at big speeds and averages
.nagruzka, B83 and B83S babbits are applied.
