The Maykubensky brown-coal basin is known since 1825. During its formation about 3500 tons of coal a year which served, generally for roasting gold, lead serebryannykh and copper ores in the Bayanaulsky mountain district were extracted here. In the 20th years the coal field has been transferred to mountain concession of the English industrialist Lesley Urkvart.
