RECEIVING CALCIUM CARBIDE
Calcium carbide is received in electric furnaces at temperature of 1900 - 1950 °C from lime and anthracite or coke. Technical calcium carbide represents solid crystal matter from light - brown till black color.
USE OF CALCIUM CARBIDE
Calcium carbide is applied to receiving acetylene, calcium cyanamide (raw materials for production of fertilizers, cyanic connections), the carbide and carbamide regulator of growth of plants; in production of acetylene black and products of organic synthesis (synthetic rubber, vinyl chloride, acrylonitrile, ethylene, chlorderivative acetylene, acetone, styrene, acetic acid, artificial pitches); recovery of alkali metals; when carrying out flame welding by acetylene.

At interaction with water calcium carbide decays with release of acetylene and slaked lime, at contact with oxidizers also emits acetylene and is warmed. Acetylene pozharo - is also explosive. Calcium carbide on extent of impact on organism belongs to substances of the 1st class of danger.
PACKAGING, STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION OF CALCIUM CARBIDE
Calcium carbide is packed into steelpans or special airtight containers.
Calcium carbide is stored on the open areas under canopy or in the fireproof, well aired warehouses excluding moisture hit. Joint storage with other substances and materials is not allowed.
Calcium carbide is transported all means of transport (except air) in the covered vehicles.
