The device represents a set of hardware and a set of specialized software products providing visualization (obtaining the video image) of a relief and structural not uniformity of a surface of the metals possessing magnetic properties (mechanoprocessing traces, inclusion of not ferromagnetic materials, superficial defects of welded seams) without removal of a paint and varnish covering (at its existence) or corrosion by methods of magnetooptical visualization. As the device for collecting, accumulation, processing, transfer and display of information in the device the portable personal electronic computer (PEC) is used.
The device is intended for operation of criminalistic researches by laboratories, law-enforcement bodies, justice, customs, insurance companies. Considering high informational content of results, nondestructive nature, efficiency and presentation of researches by a magnetooptical method, the device can be used both for expeditious examination, and for expert and criminalistic and diagnostic testings of identification numbers of motor transport in vitro.
Features of a product:
- High informational content of results of researches by method of the magneto-optical visualization (MOV) allows to find the signs inaccessible for traditional methods (for example, the rusts which are in a blanket).
- The MOV nondestructive technology allows to keep integrity of LKP of the car.
- Efficiency of research (about 1 min. on researches of one number) in combination with compactness of hardware, autonomous power supply and mobility of the device, a possibility of use of the electronic reference books and databases provided to the personal computer allows application in the conditions of linear control.
- A small raskhodnost of materials at MOV. Magnetic copying on the intermediate carrier provides its repeated use, creations of the copy for documenting (an archiving, listing of results).

Work with the device:
By means of case accessories to magnetic copying the operator (the inspector, the expert) makes magnetic copying on the intermediate flexible tape magnetic carrier (a tape piece) without removal of a paint and varnish covering (LKP) or a layer of a rust. Implementation of the magnetic copy is made by imposing of the piece of a magnetic tape fixed by magnetic clips on the number platform of a body, the unit or chassis of the car with the subsequent carrying out by the magnetic scanner on a magnetic tape from beginning to end studied site. At the same time the copied magnetic fields of dispersion completely reflect relief (the invoice of a surface, a roughness, scratches, zaboina, sinks) and, considerably, - structural (impregnations of alien materials, areas of a local overheat) inhomogeneity of material of a sample. For this method of research all not ferromagnetic materials are "transparent"; at the same time thickness of the "illuminated" layer of LKP makes size to 0,8mm, and thickness of the "illuminated" rust layer — to 0,5mm.
The magnetic copy of a sample received thus is established in the OMB tape drive mechanism, is automatically entered into the tape drive highway, and then scanned by the sensor on the basis of a magnetooptical crystal.
The image received at visualization is output to the computer monitor for expeditious supervision, processing and carrying out researches, if necessary - preservations and listings. Approximate time of input in the computer of the image of the number platform 0,5 — 1 min.
The fulfilled magnetic copy can be degaussed and repeatedly reused. Nevertheless, it is in certain cases more preferable to keep the magnetic copy as a material evidence (for example, before the destroying researches; or by transfer of object to other department). Depth of the "illuminated" layer of LKP is sufficient for researches of cars with the coverings executed on technologies of car makers as thickness of these coverings (6 layers) does not exceed 185 microns.
