The meteorological radar (MRL) — the specialized radar for obtaining information on the atmosphere and the processes proceeding in it. The principle of action is based on an assessment of extent of weakening of the accepted echo signal in comparison with the signal radiated by MRL. The specific requirements caused by features of the meteorological purposes are imposed to MRL: exclusively big range of change of the reflecting ability; the considerable vertical and horizontal sizes which are usually exceeding the geometrical sizes of the probing impulse; rather small speed of the movement and big spaces, variability. All this demands transmitters of big power, receivers of big sensitivity, and also antennas with big coefficient of the directed action. MRL antennas rotate in horizontal (from 0 to 360 (°)) and vertical (from 0 to 90 (°)) the planes. MRL allows to collect information from the area with a radius up to 300 km.
