In technical literature, the synonym bucket elevator . It is a vertical tape (or chain) conveyor with buckets, due to the continuous movement of which the material is lifted. As a rule, the conveyor is placed in a rectangular pipe.

The material in the lower part is picked up by buckets, moved vertically and unloaded through pipe in the horizontal direction at the top of the elevator. The buckets go down overturned.

The maximum lifting height of the material, as a rule, does not exceed 60 m.

Used in feed mills, flour mill and chemical industry . There is also an inclined elevator - a conveying equipment designed to transport coals and their enrichment products at an angle of inclination to the horizon of 60-82°, humidity up to 25%, as well as for transporting other bulk materials with similar properties.

A bucket elevator is a closed canvas with a traction element that goes around drive and tension drums (sprockets), and buckets attached to it. The load-bearing and enclosing part of the elevator is a welded steel casing with loading and unloading pipes. The drive has electric motor , reducer , couplings and stop , preventing reverse movement of the web. The elevator uses a screw or load tensioning device. The speed of the blade of low-speed elevators is up to 1 m/sec, high-speed elevators are up to 4 m/sec. The feed rate of bucket elevators is 5–500 m³/h, the lifting height H does not exceed 60 m. The main parameters of bucket elevators are the width VK, height h, reach A, useful (to the edge of the front wall) capacity of the bucket and the distance (pitch) between the buckets ak. High-speed elevators have arranged deep and shallow buckets, for which ak = (2.5-3) h, and a rubber-fabric conveyor belt or short-link chain is used as a traction element. On low-speed elevators, closed (ak = h) buckets with side guides, acute-angled and with a rounded bottom, are used, attached by the side walls to two traction chains.
