Handrail is a safety (vertical) protection of ladders, balconies, terraces, embankments and bridges about one meter high. By safety rules all ladders consisting more than from 3 steps need to be equipped with a handrail, height of a handrail has to be about 1 m. Slightly higher than a belt of the person of average height, at the same time the hand has to lean on hand-rail conveniently. The surface of a handrail should not be slippery. If the ladder and a handrail are made of slippery material, it is possible to apply carpets or special paint, nakadka from nonskid materials - soft plastic, rubber, etc.
Handrail is not only the help at rise, but first of all the element of safety of a ladder keeping the person from falling. If in the house there are small children or animals, it is better to put continuous ladder protections. If in registration of a handrail rail-posts are used, they have to be rather often put that the child did not fall out in a gap between columns. A handrail does of various materials — a tree, metal (aluminum, steel, etc.), a stone, plastic, concrete. Besides a functional handrail, for addition of an interior indoors sometimes put decorative protections.
