Lamination

Lamination is a covering of printing products a film. A basic purpose of lamination — protection of the image against various external influences.

It is carried out by means of the special device called the laminator.

Lamination can be: cold or hot, one-or bilateral.

The laminator consists of transit and clamping devices — in bulk. The elementary models have one couple of shaft (combine in themselves function of advance and a clip); office and professional laminators are equipped in two couples of shaft. Specialized laminators can have three couples of shaft for strengthening of function of a clip. Existence of two couples of shaft — a sufficient condition for a qualitative lamination. If the laminator is intended for hot lamination, it has any of three possible options of a heating element: a heating plate, the heating-up shaft (forward couple), a combination of a heating plate and the heating-up shaft. As a rule, all modern laminators are intended at the same time for a cold and hot lamination.

At lamination use a special film (from 32 micron to 250 microns thick).

For cold lamination the film having the high-transparent glue system which is made active by pressure is used.

Hot lamination takes place under the influence of pressure and temperature.

Films for lamination happen:
Glossy — perfectly render color of the image, its saturation and brightness. The light patches of light arising on a glossy surface prevent to perceive fine details, for example, the information text.

Opaque — exclude patches of light, give the chance without effort to do inscriptions on a surface. These inscriptions are easily erased by a usual eraser. The covering an opaque film looks more respectably and as a rule it is required for lamination of business cards and expensive advertizing production.

Textured — for example: "Sand", "Canvas", "Lyon", "Champagne splashes", "Fabric" use for dressing of a surface of the image.

Cold lamination is made on the laminator 140 cm wide. Hot lamination is carried out on the photolaminator with hot shaft, up to 65 cm wide. Low-temperature hot lamination is made on a thermal vacuum press of "BIEDERMANN" on expendables of production of Germany and Italy.
