Description Manganese dioxide (Manganese dioxide of 91% , manganous peroxide) - opaque powder, color black or gray and steel. Manganese dioxide of 91% possesses semiconductor and piezoelectric properties. In hydrochloric acid it is dissolved with release of chlorine. Also available Manganese dioxide of 80% .
Application Natural and synthetic manganous peroxide (so - called electrolytic manganese dioxide, "EDM", Manganese dioxide of 91% ) is used chemical sources of current, and also • in production of voltaic cells and batteries, • for receiving catalysts like hopcalite in special gas masks for protection from WITH. • from manganous peroxide receive potassium permanganate and salts of manganese, • in glass production manganous peroxide is applied to decolorization of green glasses, • in paint and varnish — for production of drying oil and oil, • in tanning — for manufacture of chromic skin, etc.
