Description
In the beginning people almost washed everything with usual water. Sometimes used oils and abrasives, such as wet sand, and wet clay. The oldest known detergent for wool washing — the stale (decaying) urine. Soap has appeared still in the ancient time as result of cooking of animal fat with water and wood ash. Other detergents — oxen bile and vegetable saponins.
Washing effects certain synthetic surfactant have been noted in 1913 by A. Reykhlin, the Belgian chemist. The mix Nekal which was on sale in Germany in 1917 to facilitate shortage of soap in World War I was the first commercially available detergent using those supervision. Synthetic detergents were mainly used in the industry before World War II. After it the plants of aviation fuel of the USA which have passed to peace products widely made the tetrapropylene used in household detergents that has caused rapid growth of house use in the late forties. In the late sixties the biological detergents containing the enzymes splitting proteins have appeared in the USA.
