Metallurgical silicon, silicon of the improved quality (UMG)

Silicon an element of the main subgroup of the fourth group of the third period of the Periodic Table of D. I. Mendeleyev, with atomic number 14. Oboznach Technical silicon finds the following applications:
raw materials for metallurgical productions: alloy component (bronze, alpax); a deoxidant (when smelting cast iron); the modifier of properties of metals or the alloying element (for example, the additive of a certain amount of silicon by production transformer staly reduces the coercive force of a ready-made product), etc.;
raw materials for production of purer polycrystalline silicon and the purified metallurgical silicon (in umg-Si literature);
raw materials for production of kremniyorganichesky materials, silons;
sometimes silicon of technical purity and its alloy with iron (ferrosilicium) is used for production of hydrogen in field conditions;
for production of solar batteries.

Sverkhchisty silicon is mainly used for production of single electronic devices (nonlinear passive elements of electric circuits) and single-crystal chips. Pure silicon, waste of superpure silicon, the purified metallurgical silicon in the form of crystal silicon are the main raw material for solar power.
Single-crystal silicon besides electronics and solar power is used for production of mirrors of gas lasers.
Compounds of metals with silicon silicides are shirokoupotreblyaemy in the industry (for example, electronic and nuclear) materials with a wide range of useful chemical, electric and nuclear properties (resistance to oxidation, neutrons, etc.). Silicides of a number of elements are important thermoelectric materials.
Compounds of silicon form a basis for production of glass and cement. The silicate industry is engaged in production of glass and cement. It also lets out silicate ceramics a brick, porcelain, faience and products from them.
The silicate glue applied in construction as sikkativ, and in pyrotechnics and in life to paper pasting is widely known.
Silicone oils and silicones materials on the basis of kremniyorganichesky connections were widely adopted.
