Oil liquid, Liquid petrolatum

Liquid petrolatum (Oleum vaselini seu Parafinum liquidum, "liquid paraffin") — the cleared fraction of oil received after kerosene otgonka in which there are no harmful organic substances and their connections. Mix of saturated hydrocarbons with C15 C10 ÷. The colorless oily liquid softening ointment bases. Mixes up with fats and oils (except for castoric), possesses all properties of vaseline.

On the basis of liquid petrolatum the set of different medical and cosmetic ointments is created, it is used as solvent for number of the preparations intended for injections and as the defoaming agent by production of penicillin. Liquid petrolatum is used for creation plastic, steady to strong to oxidizers of lubricants, is part of the leveling Ts - 313 and RME liquids. Vaseline is component of some construction enamels. It is used in containers for caesium storage.

Some compositions of vacuum oils contain liquid petrolatum.

Churches use liquid paraffin instead of vegetable oils in icon lamps. As a result of complete combustion of liquid paraffin carbon dioxide and water vapor is formed.

In the food industry liquid petrolatum is used as greasing for the equipment. Liquid petrolatum is made in accordance with GOST 3164 - 78.
