Oxalic acid

Oxalic acid (etandiovy acid) - dibasic saturated carboxylic acid. Belongs to strong organic acids. Possesses all chemical properties characteristic of carboxylic acids. Salts and ethers of oxalic acid are called oxalates. In the nature contains in sorrel and some other plants in the form of potassium oxalates and calcium. Oxalic acid (or _C2O42-oxalate ion) is reducer (decolours _{KMnO4 solution}). Oxalic acid and its salts are applied in the textile and tanning industry as pickle; as component of anode bathtubs for sedimentation of films of Al, Ti and Sn; component of structures for purification of metals of otrzhavchina and oxides; for sedimentation of rare earth elements.
