Peracetic acid is received gradual addition of acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide in the water containing sulphuric acid as the catalyst. The received mix is maintained about ten days for gain in yield. For receiving NUK it is possible to use also acetyl chloride or acetic anhydride. Peruksusny acid is on sale in the form of mix with acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide for maintenance of stability of structure. As stabilizers also serve the pyrophosphate, tripolyphosphates and tetrametasodium pyrophosphate.
Other methods of receiving NUK include acetic aldehyde oxidation, reaction of tetraacetylethylenediamine with caustic aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide. Peracetic acid is also formed in the nature as a result of photochemical reactions. Strength of acid is determined most often by iodometric method.
