Classification of pumps by the principle of action By character of forces prevailing in the pump: volume in which pressure forces and dynamic in which inertia forces prevail prevail. On nature of connection of a working chamber with an entrance and an exit from the pump: periodic connection (volume pumps) and continuous connection of an entrance and exit (dynamic pumps). Volume pumps are used pumping of viscous liquids. In these pumps one transformation of energy — energy of the engine will directly be transformed to energy of liquid (mechanical => kinetic + potential). These are high-pressure pumps, they are sensitive to pollution of the pumped-over liquid. Working process in volume pumps is unbalanced (high vibration) therefore it is necessary to create for them the massive bases. Also unevenness of giving is characteristic of these pumps. As big plus of such pumps it is possible to consider ability to dry absorption (self-absorption). Double transformation of energy is characteristic of dynamic pumps (1 stage: mechanical => kinetic + potential; 2nd stage: kinetic => potential). In dynamic pumps it is possible to pump over the polluted liquids, they possess uniform giving and steadiness of working process. Unlike volume pumps, they are not capable to self-absorption.
