White tinplate EZhK (electrolytic tinned canning tinplate) is a sheet of cold - rolled annealed steel of small thickness (no more than 1.2 mm, at least 0.1 mm), which is coated with some kind of special tin coating that performs a protective function. According to GOST 13345 - 85, the surface of EZhK grade tin should be clean, shiny, without rust spots, untinned areas, captivity.
During electrolytic tinning, a layer of tin is deposited on the surface of the strip when it passes through a bath with an electrolyte containing a solution of tin salts; the anodes to which a high direct current is applied are pure tin. The coating obtained in the electrolytic bath has a matte surface and high porosity. To give it the necessary density and a shiny surface, the tin layer is melted down by heating the moving strip in special chambers.
