The second release of the book of the doctor of historical sciences, professor Beymbet Babiktiyevich Irmukhanov is devoted to studying of a question of an origin of the Kazakh people in the Soviet historiography. Noting that scientific bases of studying of history and an origin of the Kazakh people were put, first of all by V. V. Velyaminov-Zernov and Ch. Ch. Valikhanov's efforts, in a pre-revolutionary Russian historiography, the author emphasizes considerable success, especially in the theoretical plan, researches of this question in the Soviet historiography. The invaluable contribution of outstanding scientists V. V. Bartolda, L. N. Gumilev, V. P. Yudin is especially noted.
At the same time, it is shown that some wrong theoretical provisions in the Soviet historiography played a negative role in studying of ethnogenesis of Kazakhs.
