Tacheometer

The word "tacheometer" meaning in translation from Greek "quickly measuring" appeared in the world of geodesy in the nineteenth century. Emergence of this word fully reflected dream of surveyors of the invention of the device by means of which it would be possible to conduct quickly and with little effort field researches and measurements. A main objective of surveyors of those far times was receiving the device which would allow to reduce labor-consuming cameral processing and the most part of work to transfer to field conditions.
The tacheometer is a geodetic device which purpose consists in measurement of distances, and also horizontal and vertical angles. Use of this device became the standard in geodetic practice today. The tacheometer allows to solve a wide range of engineering and geodetic problems - calculation of coordinates of object and heights of points at survey and marking works, transfer on the district of heights and coordinates. The tacheometer is absolutely necessary when performing absolute majority of geodetic tasks, the end result of the taken measurements depends on quality and reliability of this device.
