Vanadium VNM - 1 is a refractory metal with a silver - gray color, produced in the form of ingots according to TU 48 - 4 - 272 - 73. Metallic vanadium (95 - 99% V) is obtained by carbo - , calcium - and magnesium - thermal reduction of technical V 2 O 5 or by thermal dissociation of vanadium iodide. To obtain high purity vanadium, its refining is used: electrolysis of molten vanadium halides, simple and zone induction, arc and electron beam melting in vacuum.
